Congratulations to our Seventh Champion:  Richard Montgomery A, which defended its title yet again, against a tough team from Dematha.  Playoff Results and preliminary results (preliminary rounds) are posted here in .pdf.

The 2005-06 Academic season is under way. Many teams in the Maryland, Virginia, and D.C. area will attend several tournaments this year, and I'm sure you are aware the competition is usually intense and energizing. I cordially invite you to attend our school's tournament to continue that level of competitiveness.  Hammond High School, in Howard County, Maryland, will host its Seventh Annual Green Eggs and Hammond Academic Tournament, January 7. Each team attending will play six, non-alternating rounds.  All teams play simultaneously.  The top 16 teams will then enter a single-elimination playoff bracket to determine our fourth champion. Teams finishing in the top four will receive awards. As an added bonus, before the playoffs, we will have the world-renowned single round coaches' mini-tournament. Up to 12 coaches will entertain their players by competing. Please indicate in your email your request to play in the coaches round.

Please register for your teams by replying to this email (bjenkins@hcpss.org).  In your reply, include the coach's full name, email address, school phone, home phone, and the name of each team's captain.  Include how many teams you wish to bring, and how many working buzzer systems you will have with you.  You may also telephone with this information to 410-313-7615.  Please register before December 24 to ensure your entry.  We have a maximum of 50 spots available for the tournament.  Your first two teams will be automatically registered; however, due to an interest in fielding the widest diversity of teams, all teams after your first two will be on a temporary waiting list.

Our tournament is a PACE qualifying tournament for the National Scholastics Championship, tentatively scheduled June 11-12, at Valencia Community College in Orlando.  The top two teams receive an automatic bid in this year's national tournament.

We need at least 30 total buzzers!  Without this number, games can not be simultaneous.  As coaches and players of our last tournament know, the gameplay was much faster, and all preliminary rounds were completed before lunch time.
