2008 Teen Summit for School Improvement - A Huge Success!

Hammond High School hosted its second Teen Summit For School Improvement on June 23, 2008. Approximately 64 students, including 12 rising 9th graders, attended
and participated in the event. The day-long summit focused on entertaining positive input from the students on several topics that will ultimately impact the entire study body, faculty and staff.
The event was a huge success, thanks largely to the energetic
and positive spirit from the 64 students, all of whom worked very hard, were extremely focused on the topics under discussion, and provided insight into what will work toward Hammond High School's benefit.

Hammond High School would like to thank parent volunteers who worked with the students, and faculty, staff, and former members of the Principal's Advisory Council who helped facilitate the Teen Summit.
Thanks also to School Board member Larry Cohen, and to our sponsors: Harris Teeter, Subway, Domino's Pizza, Rita's Italian Ices, McDonalds, and Howard County Hospital.

School improvements that are a direct result of the
2007 Teen Summit are underway!

New student lockers are now being installed throughout the school. The removal of the old lockers began on
June 16. A few days later, crews began installing new lockers. The new
lockers offer more storage space and have hooks inside for hanging
clothing items. The lockers will be completely installed and functional
in time for the students return to
school August 25. (The new lockers
are not being installed in the ninth
grade wing, as the present lockers in
the ninth grade wing are much newer than the former lockers throughout
the rest of the building.)
