  Poetry Alive 2008  
     
The World Languages and
ESOL departments would like
to congratulate all Hammond
HS participants in Poetry Alive held on Tuesday, November
11, 2008 at River Hill High School.

Students performed poems
in, French, German, Italian, and Spanish and ESOL students performed poems in English.

Professors from local colleges
and universities, teachers and world language supervisors
from neighboring districts, and HCPSS Central Office staff
served as judges and moderators. In addition, the Italian Club
took part in the “World
Language Fair” where they promoted the summer trip to
Italy, played cultural games, and taught Italian language phrases.

 
 
This year marked the 2nd year of the Poetry Writing event. The evening was a true celebration of languages and cultures. Hammond had the second highest number of participants, in both the Writing and Recitation contests. The following is a complete list of all our participants. They all received medals for being School Level winners.

It was amazing to see our
students' language talents showcased through this venue. Everyone did a fantastic job-
