Realizing that ninth grade is a pivotal developmental year academically, as well
as socially, physically, and emotionally, the team is comprised of teachers from all
academic disciplines and support personnel who focus on the needs of the ninth
grade learner to ensure a successful student transition from middle school to high
school.
The goal of the "Bears Initiative"
is to
recognize ninth grade students who
have demonstrated behaviors which
are aligned to the mission and vision
of Hammond High School. Staff are
encouraged to identify those students
who have demonstrated positive
behaviors and provide reinforcement
by completing "BEARS Parent
members and a "special guest," the "Hammond Bear" visited classrooms.
Prizes were delivered and awarded to these students who were recognized by their
teachers as exhibiting positive behaviors during the first quarter grading period:
