Mr. Brett Rankin
Choral/Guitar Director

Brett Rankin has been teaching music for 11 years. He has taught in Washington, DC, Baltimore, Maryland and
Florida before moving to Columbia. I have taught band,
chorus and orchestra. Mr. Rankin has traveled to Europe
with groups and have had performances up and down the
East coast. He really like having his classes perform for the
public. At Hammond High School, there are usually ten
concerts each semester in addition to festival competitions.
Before going into music, he owned his own company in

  the Baltimore/Washington area.

On a personal note, Mr. Rankin loves to travel. He has been to Africa, Asia and
Europe, and has lived in several major cities like Nashville, Atlanta, Los Angeles,
Houston, Baltimore, and Washington DC. His experience in both living and
traveling to different places helps him to give his students a broad perspective. Mr.
Rankin is married with three children: Rachel (27), Skyler (8), and Jabari (5). His
wife, Jennifer, is a teacher as well. She teaches Social Studies. I look forward to
getting to know both the parents and the students.
