New! Superior Trip to Orlando!
     The Music Department at Hammond HS is led by Mr. Bryan Eber,  
 Team Leader and Band Director; Mr. Brett Rankin, Chorus Director; and Ms.
 Elizabeth Shin, Orchestra Director. Music classes offered to students include:
 Band, Chorus, Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble, and Guitar.

 Music ensembles at Hammond HS
perform concerts throughout the year,  for community events, and at national adjudication festivals. Hammond  music groups always receive Excellent and Superior ratings at festivals
 and competitions, and the performing ensembles include: Symphonic Band,  Concert Band, Marching Band, Brass Ensemble, Orchestra, Concert Choir,
 
 
 Madrigals, Guitar Ensemble, and Percussion Ensemble.

Congratulations to the Music Department for a successful trip to Orlando, Florida! For the first time ever, all 7 performing groups received Superior ratings!

    •The Symphonic Band received a Superior Rating and won 1st Place in their
     division, and Elizabeth Cerwonka and Eric Roher received Outstanding Soloist      Awards.
    •The Concert Band received a Superior Rating and 1st Place in their division.
    •The Percussion Ensemble received a Superior Rating and 1st Place in their        division.
    •The Orchestra received a Superior Rating and 1st Place in their division, and        Katie Lippit received an Outstanding Soloist Award.
    •The Concert Choir received a Superior Rating and 2nd Place in their division,        and Charles Freeman received an Outstanding Soloist Award.
    •The Madrigals received a Superior Rating and 2nd Place in their division.
    •The Guitar Ensemble received a Superior Rating and 1st Place in their division.

New!
The Guitar Ensemble, accompanied by selected vocalists, will perform at Baltimore's Inner Harbor on Tuesday, May 18, at 3:30 pm.

Howard County Orchestra Assessments: The Hammond High Orchestra
received straight Superior One ratings
from all of the judges at the Howard County
Orchestra Assessments on March 31, 2010. Congratulations to the Orchestra!

Maryland Distinguished Scholar Award Talent in the Arts Category.

Please support your child in the music program by attending booster meetings,
assisting with fundraisers, and attending concerts and performances
. Parents
are also encouraged to support their children with home practice and private
lessons. Your active participation in your child's music education will
guarantee his or her success!

Choir Program
   
Congratulations to the Hanmmond Concert Choir, who performed so well at the Howard County Choral Assessments on March 24, 2010! The Choir received all 1's and 2's (Superior and Excellent ratings) from the judges. Soloist Charles Freeman (tenor) received a special mention from all three judges.
