Less than 46 Student Weeks until Graduation - Yikes!

In only a few weeks you will be "MOVIN' UP" and becoming the top dawgs in
the school! Wow! How time flies!
The coming year will be filled with all sorts of exciting activities! Make every moment count! Listen to the announcements, check
out the Class of 2009 display case, read your newsletters, do your homework each day, follow school rules, get involved! You won't believe how quickly these weeks will pass! What you do NOW will have an effect on what you do LATER!

Another Yikes! The members of the Class of 2009 have the dubious honor of
being the very first graduating class that MUST pass the MARYLAND HIGH SCHOOL ASSESSMENTS
in order to graduate! Make sure that you take these assessments seriously!

Hammond High Honors 20 Class of 2009 Members

Class of 2009 members were honored at the annual ACADEMIC AWARDS EVENING
held on May 7, 2008.

Congratulations
to Janet Akinduro, Trevor Bublitz, Rebecca Foust, Elizabeth Gildea, Samuel Ginty, Genna Gold, Hannah Grabenstein, Joshua Hooks, Jeanette Jenkins, Mark Lehtonen, Rachel Nugent, Samuel Plazak, Lana Riggins, Lauren Rutherford, Mara
Seibert, Scott Simpson, Stephanie Speierman, Kyle Stanton, Hoang Tran, and Mary Zhuang
.

In order to receive this academic award, these students had to attain a quarterly G.P.A. of
3.4 or higher in every grading quarter since starting Hammond High and be in the top
10% of their class.
No small feat! Way to Go!

The good news continues! Three members of the Class of 2009 received the 2008 National Council of Teachers of English Achievement writing award! Congratulations to Hannah Grabenstein, Mark Lehtonen, and Kyle Stanton.

Congratulations to the Class of 2009 members of the Math Team…Trevor Bublitz,
Rebecca Foust, Megan Lauver, Scott Simpson (the design master of their official t-shirt), and Lizzy Wunsch!
Wow!

Yet another honor for a member of the Class of 2009…Mara Seibert was presented with
the very prestigious 2008 Wellesley College Book Award.
It was with pride that Mrs. Brandinger and Ms. Newsome attended this ceremony. Once again, the members of the
Class of 2009 have proven that you are "A Force to be Reckoned With".

Do You Do the Dues Thing?

Every member of the Class
is expected to pay yearly dues of $20.00 (the lowest
class dues in the school!). The money raised will fund Class activities and start the major fundraising needed for your senior Prom. This will greatly reduce the cost of your other senior year activities, too! Please bring your checks (or real money) to
Ms. Brandinger or Ms. Newsome in Room 609/610!

Hey! How come the other classes get free shirts or lanyards if they pay their dues?
The shirts cost money that has to be paid immediately, so while they advertise "free
shirts", in fact they are paying at least 70% of the dues money collected to cover this
expense. That means they only collect 30% or less towards the cost of Prom and
senior year activities. We want to use as much of your class money as possible to
cover this expense - offering the lowest possible cost of prom tickets.
But we agree,
you should get "something" for your dues money.
So! Here is what you will get by paying your dues:
One year dues payment:
~ Free ticket to the 2008-09 Back-To-School Dance
Two years of dues payments:
~ Free ticket to the 2008-09 Back-To-School Dance
~ Free ticket to the 2009 MORP Dance
Three years of dues payments:
~ Free ticket to the 2008-09 Back-To-School Dance
~ Free ticket to the 2009 MORP Dance
~ Free ticket to attend the 2009 Class Picnic

  Four years of dues payments:
~ Free ticket to the 2008-09 Back-To-School Dance
~ Free ticket to the 2009 MORP Dance
~ Free ticket to attend the 2009 Class Picnic
~ Reservation to participate as a contestant or escort in 2009 Mr. HHS
~ 50% discount for your 2009 Prom Ticket
