HAMMOND STATE CHAMPIONS FOR ECONCHALLENGE – MOVING ON TO NATIONAL COMPETITION

 

Maryland’s Economics Challenge, sponsored by the Maryland Council for Economics Education, is an opportunity for high school students to demonstrate their economics knowledge in a fun, competitive environment! Teams of up to four students compete in one of the two divisions on topics from microeconomics, macroeconomics, international economics, and current events. The 1 st David Ricardo team (non Advanced Placement students) at the state level receives a $100 series EE Savings Bond for each member of the team. Also, the highest scoring David Ricardo team at the state level competition will go on to the National EconChallenge competition on April 18 th.

Fifteen teams participated and the first place winning team from Maryland is from HAMMOND HIGH SCHOOL! The team members are Kelly Dombek, Tracy Kamen, and Anthony Dimeo. They are led and coached by their American Government teacher, Jody Zepp. Kelly, Tracy, and Anthony are now representing Maryland in the National competition and will each receive a $100 Savings Bond!

The second place team and the third place team are also from HAMMOND HIGH SCHOOL. Team members for the second place honor include Jonathan Conklin, Colin Mason, and Kevin Chan. Team members for the third place honor include Hailey Jowanowitch, Valerie Kamen, and Noah O’Ryan.

Congratulations to Kelly Dombek, Tracy Kamen, and Anthony Dimeo – and all other EconChallenge team members! Good luck on April 28 th! Go Academic Bears!
